Free Passport Photo Photography Event
Senior Society Foundation held a special event offering free passport photo services for the elderly in the community. Over 80 seniors attended the event, three times the usual number of participants. This initiative aimed to alleviate the burden of obtaining a passport for seniors and to encourage their active involvement in community activities. During the event, professional photographers provided high-quality photo services for each participant. This service was warmly welcomed by the community's elderly, who expressed that it not only saved costs but also made them feel the care and support from the community. The Senior Community Foundation plans to continue such activities, extending them to more communities to provide convenience for more seniors.
Father's Day celebration event
Senior Society Foundation organized a heartwarming event this Father's Day, providing warmth and care to our beloved seniors. The event featured various programs including lucky draws, interactive games, and culinary delights. This special day allowed the elderly to feel the warmth and concern of the community, creating a Father's Day filled with love for them.











Dragon Boat Festival event
Senior Community Foundation participated in the Dragon Boat Festival event held at the senior apartment, bringing warmth and joy to the elderly in the community. On the event day, the foundation organized an exciting raffle activity. The seniors eagerly participated, each hoping to win a delightful prize. This interaction not only enhanced the festive atmosphere but also made the seniors feel the joy of the holiday and the community's care.
Additionally, the foundation specially prepared traditional Dragon Boat Festival food—zongzi—and distributed them to the seniors. Volunteers personally handed the zongzi to each senior, offering holiday blessings. These delicious zongzi not only allowed the seniors to taste the festival's flavor but also made them feel the strong festive atmosphere and deep care.
This Dragon Boat Festival event enriched the seniors' lives and deepened their understanding of traditional culture, allowing them to enjoy an unforgettable holiday in a joyful atmosphere.
PALO VISTA Health & Wellness Resource Fair 2024
The Senior Community Foundation actively participated in the PALO VISTA Health & Wellness Resource Fair 2024 organized by the Oakland Housing Authority. This event aimed to enhance the health awareness and quality of life of community residents, attracting numerous community members.
At the fair, the foundation arranged a series of engaging activities for the elderly. First, they organized Zumba dance classes. Zumba combines dance and aerobic exercises, allowing seniors to work out to enjoyable music while boosting their interest in physical activity and energy. Many seniors eagerly participated, creating a lively and joyous atmosphere.
Additionally, the foundation set up a blood pressure measurement station, offering free blood pressure checks. This service aimed to help seniors monitor their blood pressure and increase awareness of common conditions like hypertension. Professional medical volunteers patiently measured blood pressure and provided health advice, earning widespread praise.
Lastly, the foundation featured a photo booth where seniors could take fun photos to create lasting memories. These photos not only added to the event's fun but also made seniors feel cared for and valued.

Senior Community Foundation recently organized a special lecture by Dr kenneth chang, inviting Dr. Chen Hongjie, a family physician, to provide an in-depth explanation of health issues affecting the elderly in the community. The lecture focused on two common health concerns: insomnia and gout, aiming to improve seniors' health awareness and self-care abilities.
Dr. Chang first explained the causes and effects of insomnia in detail, offering practical improvement suggestions such as sleep hygiene, relaxation techniques, and dietary adjustments. He then discussed the causes, symptoms, and prevention methods of gout, emphasizing the importance of a healthy diet and regular exercise.
After the lecture, the seniors eagerly asked questions, and the doctor patiently addressed their concerns, providing personalized advice. This event not only enriched the seniors' health knowledge but also boosted their confidence and ability to handle health issues.

Walking club
Volunteers from senior society Foundation recently organized a walking club activity for the elderly in the community, aiming to promote their physical health and social interaction. The route was designed to be simple and easy, suitable for participants of different fitness levels. Volunteers accompanied the elderly throughout the walk, providing necessary support and encouragement, and offering water and simple healthy snacks along the way. During the Lunar New Year, senior society Foundation actively participated in street fairs held in San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose. These events aimed to provide comprehensive health consultation services to the elderly in the community, covering areas such as diet, exercise, and mental health. The foundation specifically invited professional medical personnel to answer health-related questions on-site and provide personalized advice. Additionally, the events featured a variety of raffle activities, with prizes including health products and daily necessities, adding joy and surprise to the festival for the participants. Through these activities, the Elderly Community Foundation hopes to raise awareness of health among the elderly in the community and promote their physical and mental well-being and quality of life.
